Let Go

2021 has dawned bright with wonder and hope.
The teaching of 2020 has closed its last chapter, a year of learning and of letting go.  Letting go of plans, expectations, attachments, jobs, in person visits…
But too, a letting go of busyness, of being over-scheduled, of consuming and shopping, of scrolling, and of not being able to say no…
And That Allowed Room for:
Reflection
Deep Sleep
Writing
Contemplating
Time by the Fire
Meditation
Walks in Nature
Long Zoom Chats Across Many Miles
Old Fashioned Letters and Cards
Chats by Text
Photography
Baths with Sumptuous Salts
Communing with Little Bear
A Long Book List to Savor
Healthy Cooking
Growing Herbs
Awareness
Ingesting Positive Media
Editing Photos
Shedding Excess Everything
Finding Value in the Simple
Learning About Trees
Time Spent in Silence with Craig (and in meaningful conversations)
Working Toward Optimal Well Being
And that evolved into:
A Deepening of Being
and
of
Peace
Happy New Year to All!
“She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go.
She let go of fear. She let go of judgments.
She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.
She let go of the committee of indecision within her.
She let go of all the “right” reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.
She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go….She didn’t search the scriptures.
She just let go.
She let go of all the memories that held her back.
She let go of all the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.
She let go of all the planning and all the calculations about how to do it just right.
She didn’t promise to let go.
She didn’t journal about it.
She didn’t write the projected date in her day-timer.
She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper.
She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope.
She just let go.
She didn’t analyze whether she should let go.
She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter.
She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment.
She didn’t call the prayer line.
She didn’t utter one word. She just let go.
No one was around when it happened.

There was no applause or congratulations

No one thanked her or praised her.
No one noticed a thing.
Like a leaf falling from a tree, she let go.
There was no effort. There was no struggle.
It wasn’t good, and it wasn’t bad.
In the space of letting go, she let it be.
A small smile came over her face.
A light breeze blew through her.
And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.
Here’s to giving ourselves the gift of letting go….
There’s only one Guru – you.”

Welcome the New Year!

“And now we welcome the new year,

full of things that have never been.”

-Ranier Maria Rilke

Each of these snowflakes have never been before. Each new crystal is a unique expression of wonder! Light filled, every one. These are a few of the many many reasons that I am completely enamored of snow!  The peacefulness, the beauty, the calm, the quiet, the sweetness, the meditative stillness, and that unique expression of wonder – it all embraces me completely.

And aren’t we all like this too, unique expressions of wonder?  Light filled crystals of being? Yes, I think we are. May we all be filled with this light and wonder, knowing our unique expression of being this New Year…

It is very softly snowing on this dawn of the newest year and all of these feelings are very present – as am I. And in stillness I am listening to what my heart prays…

“Sit in stillness and listen to what your heart prays.”

-Ruth Jewell

A Glorious Greeting

“How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains.”

-John Muir

Our new year is a gift of 365 mornings resplendent in fresh beginnings and the possibility for sweet reflective endings.  Here’s to giving each one of these days as glorious a greeting as the sun gives the mountains, with abundant gratitude from sunrise to sunset.

Happiest of New Years!!  May it be brimming with Radiant Health, Adventure, Love, Learning, Deepening, Blessings, Unexpected Gifts and a Peaceful Heart, infused with nature, animals, family and friends!!

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”

-Marcus Aurelius

Sun Through the Trees

“I like to walk alone on country paths,
rice plants and wild grasses on both sides,
putting each foot down on the earth
in mindfulness, knowing
that I walk on the wondrous earth.
In such moments, existence is a miraculous
and mysterious reality.
People usually consider walking on water
or in thin air a miracle.
But I think the real miracle
is not to walk either on water or in thin air,
but to walk on earth.
Every day we are engaged in a miracle
which we don’t even recognize:
a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves,
the black, curious eyes of a child–
our own two eyes.
All is a miracle.”
~ Thich Nhat Hanh

We Always Begin Anew

Sunrise, Christmas Morning, Tall Trees, Snow

2015 has dawned!

With it, a renewed realization that in every day, every hour and every new year, we are empowered to begin anew.  We can create the miraculous.   Revolutionary changes in our very being are available in each new moment.

The new year inspires.  Breathing together and in solitary communion, we know we have the power to change.  And to be.  There is hope. A quickening. A deepening.

May 2015 allow deep breathing into the wonder…

and a realization of the gifts of the present.

Peace, prosperity, laughter, great love, simple deeds, adventures, inner growth, understanding, quiet, time to reflect in gratitude are wished for people everywhere.  And to the planet and the animals may there be reverence, respect and radiance.

May our awareness allow the absorption into the new hours and moments of this new year.
